Investments
Investment ManagementThe Investment Division actively manages an Investment Pool of cash reserves for all County agencies, school districts and special districts. With approximately $3 billion in assets, the Investment Pool is invested in fixed income securities that are legally permitted under Section 53635 of the California Government Code and also meet the criteria of the Alameda County Treasury's Investment Policy. Annually, the Treasury Oversight Committee and the Board of Supervisors review and approve the Investment Policy and oversee the Investment Pool to ensure that specific investments comply with the policy and the California Government Code. The Investment Pool is only allowed to invest in certain types of highly-rated securities including Certificate of Deposits, U.S. Treasury obligations, Federal Agency obligations, Municipal obligations and Commercial Paper. Income from the Investment Pool is allocated on a quarterly basis, net of any costs, to the participants based on their average daily balances. |
