Major Revisions To Alameda County Septic System Ordinance (2/1/2007)

The current septic system ordinance is in the process of being updated to address the following issues:

• Allow the development of properties with challenging site/soil conditions such as steep slopes, slow percolation rates or high groundwater by using advanced septic system technology.
• Clarify if/when a home remodel or addition project will require an upgrade to the septic system.
• Bring the new Alameda County septic system ordinance into alignment with the mandates of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.
